Bit Hood welcomed members of Lutheran Adult Fellowship to Wine or Wort Home Brew Supply Store, located in Gypsum, for a Winemaking 101 class and a cheese making demonstration on Wednesday, March 20. Not only did we witness the start to finish process of making mozzarella cheese, we sampled the cheese with crackers.
Winemaking involved a few more steps including the primary fermentation that involved mixing bentonite and warm water in a Primary Fermenter, adding juice, water and yeast. Using a wine previously fermented, the next step was to stabilize and clear the wine using necessary chemicals and degas.
The final steps were bottling and corking the wine. Tasting samples of four different homemade wines throughout the evening was enjoyed.
